I've just turned on my pc and guess what.... ¨load needed DLL for kernel¨ hal.dll file has been corrupted. This means no Windows boot up. I want to run a disk check but don't know what boot disk I should use. Some recommend Linux, but I'm not sure. I don't have access to XP original and getting an XP boot disk is as difficult as trying to have a shit with no asshole.

If anyone knows, please help me.

Cheers

Most of the pirate copies are faulty anyway. Don't really want to screw it up even more. Was thinking about it but I've gone way over my monthly downloading allowance and downloading another Gig won't be good.

Tried and didn't work. Windows can't boot at all. Even in safe mode you need boot files. Wanadoo DSL have download limits, unfortunately. And yeh, PC world is the shittest place ever to buy anything.

I have a working XP PRO (warez of course). No boot though. You can understand my frustration when i tried installing it on a new hd. PC World pls I live in Finland and i know that its a crappy store. Buying a pc from there is even worse. A limited internet connection? A most interestingly shitty connection. Pls people buy unlimited usuge connections. Lets me free to download all the shit that i want.

try any bootdisk available to you. 95/98/me/2000
best solution is to get that install CD!!! Borrow from a friend or your friends dad or mother or from workplace. shit i don't know.my guess is that you need it, unless you can somehow miraculously repair the damaged file through dos or something...

Yeh, that seems to be the way. Although another problem is that if I reinstall XP, the likelyhood is that it will format my HDD which I haven't backed up (clever me). Anyway cheers kolkkis, I'll have to sort it out somehow.

next time you oughta make atleast 2 separate hdd. I have 160gb hdd and have it in 4 separate drives. And there are software that can rebuild or save some of the lsot information. they somehow reassemble the lost partition.
