Heat sinks, anyone got any flash ones?
So what have you got? I've just ordered one of these bad boys http://www.vapochill.com/main/page.asp?sideid=724 Read a few reviews, but mainly from american websites, looks pretty cool, anyone got one? Im looking forward to cranking the power up to the cpu when it turns up! My current heat sink is a Artic cooling super silent piece of crap which couldnt cool a wet fart after a good curry    i think its mainly because its an almost a silent fan

I have a Thermalright XP-120, its a huge heatsink designed for a 120mm fan. i have 125cfm fan connected to it... its fairly loud but its very good. My processor is a bitch to cool. Bit beastly but it does the trick.

Alpine thats a beast and a half! Just got my vapochill fitted it all lovely then bang, the pc shuts down! Started it up again, off it goes! Looked on the vapochill forum, there may be a problem with some mother boards and the fan! If plugged the fan into a aux fan for now and all is fine, i just cant controll the speed, when i plug it in the cpu fan socket it shuts my pc down! Ive mailed the support and wait a response, im not holding my breath, there was a post on the 16th of september with the same problem, support replied saying we will get back to you asap, the chap posted again yesterday asking if they have found a solution yet! Still no response! Oh well guess i could just buy another 92mm fan for it! On the bright side, im running prime 95 on full stress test and the cpu temp wont go above 43 degrees, with the old heat sink and fan it would run at 59 degrees, so apart from the fan im happy! Ill start clocking the processor once i get the fan working properly!

Have you checked the BIOS settings, sometimes they have an RPM alert that sets the alarm off. I use a Zalman CNPS7700-CU 120mm Super Flower Cooler

Ive bought another fan for it and its working sweet, so far ive clocked it up from 2.5 to 2.95 8) 8) 8) ill try winding it up some more later, its rather time consuming running prim 95 8)

BTW hows your heat sink saint? I thought about getting one of these but decided to go for the vapochill

Yeah it seems ok although I dont over clock. Has a handy speed control widget on the back of the PC and I keep it on the lowest setting. Idles at 48C. These P4 3.2's are a bit hot though. I did look at a water cooler but decided it wasn't worth the expense. They get less efficient as the processor heats the coolant. Run it through a gfx card as well and it doubles the problem. You end up having more fans on the outside trying to drop the coolant temp. It would have looked cool though (excuse the pun).
