the people at compaq are really clever. u see, they assemble a pc and put the recovery partition on the same drive as the operating system and all other stuff. in BIOS i can't run System Recovery so I am already quite worried that the Recovery partition has been corrupted and consequently the rest of the drive. How many plates do u reckon a 160GB HDD is on?

no idea. prolly some of it must be in the beginning of 1.st platter.
